Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat, a statement loaded with expectations and hope.
Not for all, and none for some. But sticky it will stay, till all your teeth decay.

Spider-boy and Big-boned-bubbah are here to lighten up your sad and lonely Halloween.
As a project in between.

Sketchies

Two new small, simple and fun-to-do sketches, that allow me to focus on some basics. Not sure how they came about or what they mean. But a picture is a picture, and this blog is for pictures.

Done!.. probably

Hippie-Pippie-Back-Again, with more, new, fresh colors and visual junk. Another combination of colored pixels that will create, hopefully, disturbing chaos in your mind!

It's different from the last few, and yet strangely the same. Which is what, who is where, and why is there a cardboard cutout, are things you'll need to figure out for yourself.

Just remember: all is good.

To top it off with an useless-cherry-berry, a overview of some of the illustrations created so far. Fun? Perhaps. Useless? Absolutely.

Dusty sketch

Woa, I been scooping through my old Harddisk and came across this old sketch! I still like it, although I quit working on it because it had some serious problems. Who knows, I might actually pick it up again some day! (yeah right)

Daily Compositions

Next to small personal projects, I've been working on creating simple value compositions each day. For these I tend to look at Disney background paintings as inspiration, and art works similar to those created for the Disney backgrounds. These are some of the results of that. Some work, some don't. Either way they are great training. Each was about 20min. (or one complete Avatar: the last air bender episode ^^) The only exception is 003, which I spend some more time rendering it. More to follow soon!

2x WIP

I've been working on a small personal project. It's basically a very small verticle slice of a Mushroom hippie planet. Including explorer/researcher and spaceship-Van.

The rough designs are ready, now I just have to finish it! :) So for now, here are 2 Work in Progress sketches.

1. The character - color sketch

2. The mushroom Planet - mood sketch

Lucy in the sky with Diamonds

Just got back from the BOOM festival in Portugal! It was AAWEEESOME once again! Inspiring, refreshing and insightful! And a definite refill of energy to pour into the Hippie universe! Since I came back, I've been playing around with some very nice fine-liners. I think I might actually enjoy drawing with just pens. Anyhow a new fresh Hippie drawing today (don't have a working scanner atm so it became a bit distorted photo), and more to come soon! Huggsies!

New sketches!

Ah finally some new sketches.
Heavily inspired by the amazing Jake Parker.
For those of you who are interested in his stuff, he's running a Kick Starter for a volume of his short stories, check it out: here!

Cover for the GDC Control magazine!

When I still worked at Vanguard games (W!Games then), I made this image for the Mistbound world.
And now it's been picked for the cover of the GDC Control magazine! Control is one of the official sponsors for the GDC and this magazine will be distributed all over the GDC for free!!

Let's see if any new work comes out of such great, in your face, promotion.

Sketch

I did this sketch last year for Harper Collins. Unfortunately I didn't get the job, but still have a sketch to show :).

Cheers!

Red and white pencil and shitty paper

I love it!

A first experiment with white and red pencil on a grey/brownish paper. It's great to be able to go lighter as well as darker!

Hope I have time to do more soon! :)

ohyeah! Happy new year! ^^

On to a new year!

I should write something next to this, but my brain isn't working and it's rather self explanatory. :)
Enjoy the holidays and see you all next year!
